Bob Pointer had been involved in coaching children both at Westerings Primary School and in free community sessions when he accepted the offer of creating a Mini Soccer section for Hullbridge Sports FC within a year the club was able to field 5 teams. Wanting to have more control over proceedings Bob left the club in late 2000 and decided to form his own club where children of all abilities could play as equals and where winning was the redult of good coaching not the aim.

Together with his wife Jan they formed Hambro Colts YFC and became the 5th club in Essex to obtain the then new FA Charter Standard mark.

The club has moved on from this point of 2 teams and about 20 members to having teams in all ages of mini soccer and youth football and a very successful disability football off shoot.

Among its many achievements the club was awarded the National Charter Standard Club Award in 2002 and are the only club to have been awarded the Club of the year award at both Charter Standard and Charter Development level. Both Bob and Jan have also been recognised with awards at both local county and regional level.
